Brittney Griner: The Truth Hurts

Truth is under attack, and not only on our biblical belief, but truth and facts in general are under attack. North America was built on standards that stem from Biblical truths. Unfortunately, these very standards are being cut down in society today and the wrong things are being elevated as good.

So here's a quick example, a Brittney Grinner, a face of the WNBA, plays in Russia. When the war broke out with Ukraine, it was found out that she had tried to bring hashish oil into the country, which is illegal. She was arrested and initially no one said anything because they didn't want to upset any U.S. and Russia relations.

The U.S. government has said that she was arrested wrongfully, and now the WNBA is pushing for the U.S. government to free her. The WNBA came out and said, we're going to put her number on every court. We're gonna make sure she gets her full paid salary, and we're going to take care of Brittney.

What does that say about the state of our society, and what does it celebrate?

  1. It's picking and choosing whatever side of the aisle you're on, whether you get celebrated or demonized. We saw it clearly with protests. It depends what protest you're at, whether you're allowed to do it, or whether you should just shut up. According to the media, even with civil disobedience, you can be celebrated, like those who rioted for the BLM protests. There are peaceful protests, where you can be demonized, and we saw it with the truckers. If you're on board with the truckers protest, you could lose your job!

  2. It shows the standards of people who are considered elite. They have money, they're popular, and they are celebrated. The standards of elites are purely selfish. They feel they should be able to get away with what they want, when they want, and whatever narrative that fits them at the right time.

Elites That are Fighting for Social Justice:

Many people have been fighting for the justice of black lives. They want to put an end to the "systemic racism" that is in society today, they will share that on social media, seated by a pool, and in their gated community. Many of the elites will quote Martin Luther king Jr. and they bring up great quotes about equality and justice for all, which are all great things. The issue I have, is that they don't even believe the heart and essence of what MLK Jr. believed and shared. The standards of Martin Luther king Jr. are rooted in his relationship with God.

Here are some quotes you don't hear the elites share from Martin Luther king, Jr.

He says this,

"I would urge you to give priority to the search for God. Allow his spirit to permeate your being. If you do not have a deep, patient faith in God, you will be powerless to face the delays, disappointments and vicissitudes that inevitably come."
"By opening our lives to God in Christ, we become new creatures. This experience, which Jesus spoke of as the new birth, is essential if we are to be transformed noncomformists...Only through an inner spiritual transformation do we gain the strength to fight vigorously the evils of the world in a humble and loving spirit."

That's the heartbeat of what Martin Luther king Jr. represented. These are some of the standards we have to get back and fight for.

Do you see any of these NBA players, or WNBA players, or Hollywood celebrities quote these statements from MLK Jr.?

Do they even think about what the heart and the most important part of who Martin Luther king Jr. was?

Or do they just take, what is convienant to whatever narrative they are deciding to push?

How do you navigate these conversations with people that want nothing to do with God?

It's super hard, because the attack on truth is the attack on right and wrong, good and evil. In the world, those lines are so blurred now that all like all evil is called good. All good is called evil. We're warned about this all throughout the new Testament that this is what's going to happen. We shouldn't be shocked by this, but I think it's still hard to navigate. It's really coming down to that we're being silenced or they're attempting to silence us, but but ultimately we know that Jesus is going to overcome all this, so we just need to hold true to what we believe.

We're given the the armour of God. The breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, helmet of salvation, shoes fitted witht eh readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, and those are all defensive. There is one piece of armour that is for the offensive and that's the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. So when we, when we try and combat the enemy, that's what we should use is the word of God.

When we go back to the word of God, I think that's the safest place we can be.

In my experiences, I have never debated and argued with someone, and it ended them starting a relationship with God. The best way, in my experience, has been building relationships with a person and letting God do the work from there.

It's a lot easier to connect with someone, when you have become friends. They are more willing to be vulnerable and let their walls down, and God usually gives you an opportunity to share with them. When those walls come down, they're open to have a conversation.and is a really cool conversation I had with someone who was finally able to say, I can disagree with you, but we can still be friends.

I was talking with someone from the LGBTQ+ community, and I had a great relationship with this person. She even sends her kids to our youth program and summer camps. We were able to come to an understanding of being able to disagree, respect each other, and still be friends. Let's continue to pursue TRUTH and aim to live for the biblical standards that our country was built on!
